With a view to the participative management of Burkina Faso’s Parc National W, the park’s management team is working with local communities to develop trails, salt pans and ponds.
This type of collaboration, known as HIMO (Haute Intensité de Main d’Oeuvre), involves local populations in the management of Burkina Faso’s Parc National W and its immediate environment, in return for a small fee. This involvement is a source of motivation for these populations, who become more involved in the conservation of forest and wildlife resources by systematically denouncing poachers and raising awareness of practices harmful to Parc National W.
