Many private houses and buildings in the historic cities in Armenia are designated in the official national lists of monuments but many of the people living in it are not aware of this heritage and the obligations surrounding this designation. The lack of awareness often led to random constructions in many houses and we the Ministry had a hard time dealing with it.

To respond to this issue and raise the awareness, politicians and officials visited people in their historic houses to inform them about the heritage designation of their houses and the reasons behind it.

These efforts were accompanied with PR actions, including news articles and TV programs.

The aim of the campaign is to engage homeowners and local communities in heritage preservation by providing them information and resources on better understanding the reasons behind the listing of their homes and buildings. With the efforts of ICOMOS Armenia, groups of volunteers also participated in this action.
